Okay. I get it. Some people dont like pizza. Some people love pizza. Me? I loooooove pizza.
A few years back I watched the Kickstarter for UUNI Pizza Ovens. It didnt look “refined” enough to get my buy in initially but they eventually came back (2013) with a Uuni oven in stainless steel that I did back.
While that oven had some quirks it certainly worked well enough to make some of the best pizza I’ve had at home. In 2017 they announced a new Uuni Pro oven! Shortly after that they changed their name from UUNI to OONI. I guess people kept spelling it wrong or something. *shrug* who knows.
Instead of wood pellets this one actually worked with propane gas, real wood and charcoal, AND with pellets if you really insisted. Me… I was done with pellets. Wood and Gas is where its’ at.
A little bit ago in 2019 they came out with a new one called a Karu which was much more consistent that I figured I’d get one of and probably take it to family member’s houses to make pizzas from time to time and not feel bad leaving it there from time to time.
Then in 2020 just before the COVID-19 pandemic they announced the Koda 16. It seemed to make lovely easy pizzas…. consistent each time. Eventually I decided I’d probably get one but I was going to wait for some kind of discount to come up. Then COVID happened. They announced a discount for anyone that worked for essential businesses and I contacted them and described what I do and where I work. State and Federal government considers the work I do to be essential and Ooni agreed and sent me a discount code. So in late June I placed an order for a Koda 16.
It’s currently on backorder (July 2020) and was listed to expect it in September but people seem to be getting ones that were targeted for August to be shipping to them now. I guess I’ll find out.
